ABOUT TONGUE AND LIP TIES

Tongue and lip ties can be quite common in infants and young children and can cause serious issues if not treated properly. A tongue/lip tie is a tight or thick string of tissue that restricts movement of the tongue or upper lip and affects a functional issue such as nursing, speech, feeding or sleep. Some tongue ties are easily visible, while others may be hidden or “posterior”. Both can cause serious issues or difficulty with feeding and speech.

OUR DIFFERENCE

At Pediatric Dentistry of Hamburg – Tongue and Lip Tie Center, we use a LightScalpel Carbon Dioxide Laser to perform the frenectomy. The laser cleanly and precisely vaporizes while sealing blood vessels simultaneously. The Carbon Dioxide laser is so precise that it is able to selectively remove only a few cells at a time. The procedure is near painless and can usually be completed in as little as 20-30 seconds. For infants, we have a nursing room where the mother can take their child post-procedure.

Testimonials

When we arrived at Amy’s office, both her and her staff were great. She gave me a sense of peace after her evaluation as she talked about how the procedure would help him immediately with breastfeeding but then also in the future. I cannot thank Amy and her staff enough for all of their help and guidance in regards to a procedure that we were completely foreign to. I highly recommend Amy and her staff to any mother who may think their newborn had a lip or tongue tie. I am so pleased with the care my son received, the results and the follow up provided. Thank you Amy for changing our life.

I can’t thank Dr Luley and her team enough for their help with my four month old. She had both a lip and tongue tie and they saved our feeding journey. Vera struggled with both nursing and bottles and now she is able to use both successfully. Our only regret is not seeing Dr Luley sooner. We appreciate the kindness and care she showed our baby and also the knowledge and guidance she gave to us. If you think your baby may have lip or tongue ties and you need help, I highly recommend going to see Dr Luley at Pediatric Dentistry of Hamburg.

Emily Chamorro

Nine days after our daughter was born, Dr. Amy met us at her closed office and has been NOTHING but a caring, amazing professional since. Immediately upon meeting, she eased our many fears, sat down with us and explained what would happen during the procedure and what to expect afterward. Then, she even let us accompany her to the procedure room while she operated on our daughter. She made sure we didn’t leave her office that day without her personal cell phone number and texted us less than 12 hours later to check on our daughter and to see if we had any questions. When we had a concern 2 days after our daughter’s procedure, we texted Dr. Amy and she immediately responded and reassured us, even though it was almost 11 PM that night! Dr. Amy has been absolutely amazing throughout this whole process with our baby girl, and you can tell that not only does she go the extra mile for her patients, but that she’s a Mom and she worries about these kiddos too! Now, 2 months after our daughter’s procedure, Dr. Amy still checks in with us to see how our girl is doing! I would challenge you to find a better, more caring professional than Dr. Amy!
